CANDY CORN
What taste better represents
Halloween season then candy corn? We found this recipes for
the basic candy, you can do anything with the shape or
coloring of it. We've tried letting it cool and rolling it
out to about a quarter of an inch thickness, using small
Halloween cookie cutters to make shapes and using food color
paste to make a water glaze to paint on designs. What ever
you do with it, it tastes great!
Ingredients:
1 cup sugar
2/3 cup white corn syrup
1/3 cup butter
1 tsp. vanilla
2 1/2 cup powdered sugar
1/4 tsp. salt
1/3 cup powdered milk
Yellow & Orange paste food coloring
Combine the sugar, butter, and corn syrup in sauce pan and
bring to a boil, stirring constantly. Turn heat down and
boil for 5 minutes, still stirring every few seconds. After
5 minutes remove from heat and add vanilla.
In a separate bowl, combine powdered sugar, salt, and
powdered milk. Add all at once to the mixture in the sauce
pan. Stir until well mixed and cool enough to handle. You
can now do your shaping into little candy corn shapes. You
can paint colors on them after they are cool, using paste
food color glaze and a small brush or leave them white. You
can also add one color to the mixture during the adding of
dry ingredients.
Another idea for shaping it to
roll out a layer on waxed paper and use small Halloween
cookie cutters to cut into shapes.
Makes 1 3/4 pounds of candy.
